What a backyard cedar sauna costs
Rooted Oax publishes its prices, so this guide uses real numbers: a 2-person cedar sauna starts at $3,495 before a heater, and $4,695 with the lowest-priced heater (the 2-person Ember Retreat with the 4.5 kW heater). Below: every size and heater, the options that add to the price, and the project costs that sit outside any website price.
The short answer
- Base prices, no heater: Cedar Haven barrel sauna 2-person $3,495, 4-person $4,295, 6-person $5,095; Ember Retreat pod sauna 2-person $3,495, 4-person $4,295, 6-person $5,399. The Alpine Sanctuary framed sauna’s pricing is coming soon.
- Heater: the heaters offered add $1,200–$3,000, depending on the model, size and heater. You can also choose no heater.
- Options: roof kits add $300–$500 depending on model and size; the Cedar Haven porch adds $500.
- Outside the website price: sales tax, delivery, site preparation, foundations or pads, permits, inspections, electrical work and installation — unless your written order includes them.

Heater choices and what they add
Every Cedar Haven and Ember Retreat price above is before a heater. These are the heaters each builder offers:
- Cedar Haven, every size: 6 kW heater +$1,500; 8 kW · Wi-Fi controls +$3,000.
- Ember Retreat, 2-person: 4.5 kW heater +$1,200; 4 kW · Wi-Fi controls +$2,000.
- Ember Retreat, 4-person: 6 kW heater +$1,500; 8 kW · Wi-Fi controls — awaiting sizing confirmation (not available to order yet).
- Ember Retreat, 6-person: 6 kW heater +$1,500; 8 kW · Wi-Fi controls +$3,000.

Costs outside the website price
The Terms of Sale list what a website price does not include unless your written order says it does. Plan for these from the start:

Adding a cold plunge
The Glacier Reserve cedar cold plunge is priced by exterior finish — full T1-11 siding $3,200, half cedar / half siding $3,500, full cedar $3,700 — before an optional chiller: the standard chiller adds $300 and the performance chiller adds $2,000. That puts a Glacier Reserve between $3,200 (no chiller) and $5,700 (full cedar with the performance chiller), before the same outside costs.
Getting an exact price
- Configure it. The builder shows the website price for the size, heater and options you choose.
- Ask anything. Send a quote request or book a free consultation — the route for the Alpine Sanctuary, custom builds and anything you want to talk through first.
- Confirm in writing. A purchase becomes an accepted order when the final products, specifications, price, payment schedule and scope are confirmed in writing (Terms of Sale).
Sauna price questions
Can I buy a sauna without a heater?
Yes. The Cedar Haven and Ember Retreat builders offer “No heater” (+$0); the builder asks you to confirm that you meant to leave it out.
Why can’t I choose some heaters?
A few larger heaters are awaiting a sizing confirmation for certain sizes, so the builder shows them but they can’t be ordered yet. Ask about them in a quote request or free consultation.
Is the builder price the final price?
The builder shows the website price for the size, heater and options you choose. Taxes, delivery, site preparation, electrical work and installation are additional unless your order includes them, and — as the Terms of Sale explain — specifications and dimensions are confirmed in writing with your order.
